Isle of Oxney

Formed in the 1960s by Jim Knight, who had previously experienced tug of war whilst with the kent Police, they pulled originally under the name Ewe & Lamb based in Wittersham, Kent, the club changed its name in 1970. The club became one of the top sides at the lighter 560K(88st) and 600K, as well as winning numerous Kent County Championships. In around 1975 the club were joined by five members of the disbanded Vines Cross Club from Sussex (a successful team in their own rights). Gradually the club comprised of more nad more Sussex based pullers and training moved from Wittersham to Vines Cross and in 1982 changed its name to Oxney Vines Cross, where the story continues.
They achieved numerous honour's both home and abroad winning for themselves and as England representatives (ER):

  • National Titles                 5 

Isle of Wight

Formed in 1985 from the remnants of the Hightown TOW Club, the were the only Association side based on the island. This meant to compete they had to travel and thus use the ferry to the mainland at their own expense.
